The goal of our first grade program at St.Eleanor School is to provide each child with a stimulating, challenging, creative atmosphere where they learn and develop socially and spiritually according to our Catholic faith. The students are taught the skills needed to learn how to read at their own pace and to become lifelong readers. We offer a strong mathematics program where the children are taught basic math concepts, computation and problem solving strategies.

In first grade our students participate in many engaging and fun activities. In November we make the saints come alive with our All Saints Day Program. Sometime in February we celebrate the one hundredth day of school. We challenge each of our students to read 100 books by this important day. Many of our students not only reach that goal but far exceed it! The rest of the year quickly zooms by with Lenten activities, Easter, May Procession, Field Day, field trips and our end of the year picnic.

Our first grade children also have five special classes. The children participate each week in gym, computer, music, library and art.
